Congratulations on your new CD.. It's a wonderfully eclectic mix of Urban Contemporary and Praise and Worship. There's even a bit of rap, rock and jazz brilliantly intertwined. Who are some of your musical influences? Kirk Franklin – Tye Tribbett – Donald Lawrence – Commissioned – JMOSS – Fred Hammond – Robbie Lewis.

It's obvious that you have a message for the new generation of believers and non-believers. What do you hope to accomplish with this album? Not only do we pray for natural success but it is my desire that those who are not saved would be inspired to start a new life with Christ after hearing our music. I also want those who are saved to feel the testimony and understand that although life is sometimes hard, we still can make it because our life is all about Him!

Who did you work with on this project? Who are the "Royal Agents"; and  who  were  the  producers  and collaborators? R.A.I.N. (Royal Agents Influencing Nations)

who came together to make this recording. God had placed songs in my heart to write and we went into the studio to bring this project into reality. They are a group of committed young adults that are very talented and anointed and ready to minister music to the nations. It is our mission to influence nations, with our gift of music, to receive Christ as Lord and Savior and to realize that life is “All about Him”. I worked with several talented musicians who helped to produce this project. Pierre Huberson, Evan Brice, Justin Raines, John Gibson, and Napoleon Graves were all musicians that used their gift of music to accomplish this CD.

There's been some controversy regarding rap music and Hip Hop Culture crossing into the church, and being used to reach the youth. What are your thoughts on that? I believe music is very important to the 21st Century church because it helps carry a message which otherwise is misunderstood. This generation is very big on music of all types and I know that the positive message of Gospel mixed with urban contemporary music would impact the church in a powerful way. I believe when the local churches that make up the body of Christ begin to appreciate the message in spite of the form that it comes in, gospel hip hop will achieve the success like other forms of gospel music. It takes someone who is anointed and radical enough to keep knocking on the door and one day I believe the churches across the nation will answer and open the door.

As you know, many of today's gospel superstars got their start in the church. What can you tell us about your upbringing, and how you came to be Founder and Pastor of Kingdom Builders' Worship Center? I am a PK (Preacher’s Kid). I’ve been in the church all of my life and I thank God for godly parents who taught me the principles of the word of God at an early age. I’ve always been a musician, choir director and worship leader for as long as I can remember. I was called to preach at the age of 16. After my dad passed away when I was 21 years old, I became the Asst. Pastor of the church. During my tenure the Lord gave me a vision for Kingdom Builders’ Worship Center. The vision is to establish the will of God in the earth as it is in heaven as instructed in St. Matthew

6: 10. Founded on this principle the ministry has grown from 15 members at its inception to over 600 adult members to the glory of God. I’m grateful to God for my assignment as a worship leader and my appointment as a Pastor.

Many of our readers are just getting started in the gospel music business. How did you get your start? And what advice would you have for someone who is eager break into the industry? As a child, I displayed a unique interest in music. At the age of 4 I began to sing and play the drums. I realized as I grew older that God had given me a special gift to write songs and produce them as well. This gift allowed me to establish a production company, along with my partner at the time, Robbie Lewis in 1994. This partnership accomplished demo projects for many groups throughout the city of Boston and also landed a record deal with our group Here II Praise with Verity Records. This album entitled “Giving You Nothing But Praise” was introduced by gospel legend, Daryl Coley who saw something special in us and afforded us an opportunity of a lifetime. This experience has taught me valuable lessons in the industry and has prepared me for ministry on an international level. I am also a part of the Thomas Dorsey Convention of Gospel Choirs and Choruses of which I have shared many songs with the youth department. I’ve also written songs with Gospel Recording artist Freda Battle. My advice to those who are eager to break into the industry would be to work hard, stay focused and humble, and allow your gift to make room for you.

Your album hasn't even dropped yet, and I understand that you all already have performance dates lined up. Where can we expect to see you in the coming months?

Is there anything else that you'd like to share with our readers? I hear the Lord saying that He wants everyone to buy Bobby Perry & R.A.I.N. “All About You” which will be in stores June 13th, 2006!!!!! I’m joking but on a serious note I want everyone to know that life is short and we must get serious about Kingdom business. Whether you aspire to do Kingdom music or God has given you a business idea or even if you’ve been called to preach, whatever your purpose in life is we must get busy for God. We cannot wait until we’re forty and fifty years old until we get sincere about God and His Kingdom but we must be powerful Kingdom Builders on the earth now. Stop talking about what you’re going to do and just do it. Remember that the Kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of POWER! God Bless! Bobby Perry and R.A.I.N. – don’t miss the downpour!!!
